3-channel Class D audio driver IC offers superior sound quality in a smaller footprint
November 18, 2010 | Paul Buckley | 222901814
International Rectifier has introduced the IRS2053M 200 V driver IC for use in Class D Audio applications including high performance home theater systems and car audio amplifiers requiring a compact footprint.
Based on a Class D audio amplifier topology, the IRS2053M integrates three channels of high-voltage, high performance half-bridge drivers with PWM modulators. The new device’s comprehensive set of protection features includes programmable bi-directional current sensing to protect high- and low-side MOSFETs from over-current conditions. Other key features include logic compatible input and floating PWM input.
IR’s range of digital audio MOSFETs addressing output power from 50 W to 150 W, are optimized for the IRS2053M to reduce component count and PCB space while achieving improved performance, efficiency, THD and EMI.
Availability and Pricing
Pricing for the IRS2053M begins at $5.60 each in quantities of 10,000-units. Pricing for the IRAUDAMP11 is $249 per kit. Production quantities are available immediately. The devices are MSL2 Industrial qualified and RoHS compliant.
