7.0x3.7x2.1mm logic IC photocouplers support 5Mbps data rates for industrial applications
Toshiba Electronics Europe's TLP2355 and TLP2358 photocouplers will support data rates up to 5Mbps while saving board space and reducing power consumption in industrial designs.
Offering buffer logic and inverter logic configurations respectively, the logic IC couplers are supplied in compact S06 packages measuring just 7.0x3.7x2.1mm and they offer guaranteed operation at temperatures from -40 to 125°C. The devices are well suited for use in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), measurement and control equipment requiring high-speed digital interfaces, and IPM drives for factory automation systems. The TLP2355 and TLP2358 can accommodate a wide supply voltage range of 3V to 20V and support low-power operation thanks to a low maximum threshold input current of only 1.6mA. Maximum power supply current is just 3mA. A maximum propagation delay time of 250ns supports high-speed data rates up to 5Mbps. Each of the new devices consists of a GaAlAs infrared LED optically coupled to a high-gain, high-speed photodetector. The detector has a totem-pole output stage with current sourcing and sinking capabilities. Despite their small size both devices have a minimum isolation voltage rating of 3750Vrms, while an internal Faraday shield ensures a guaranteed common mode transient immunity of ±20kV/µs.
