Avnet Memec is named as pan-European distributor for Infinite Power Solutions

The new agreement will enable Avnet Memec, a specialized semiconductor distributor, to provide a broader product offering to the growing energy harvesting segment.
Energy harvesting is currently a niche market, with spending of $700M in 2011. However, experts from IDTechEx estimate this market will grow worldwide to $4.37 billion by 2020. The eco-friendly 4 V THINERGY Micro Energy Cells (MECs) from IPS will be an important component in successful energy harvesting solutions of the future as they drive down the cost of new applications. The paper-thin cells are not only the most powerful battery for their size, they can be embedded into the system, are lifetime rechargeable and will never need to be replaced. Additionally, with close to zero leakage, MECs are the most efficient storage solution available and ideal for energy harvesting applications.
