Compact broadband amplifier operates across the 0.5 GHz to 2.5 GHz frequency range
May 02, 2012 | Paul Buckley | 222904523
Amplifier Technology Ltd has added the 8817 broadband amplifier which operates across a huge spectrum, covering all frequencies between 0.5 GHz and 2.5 GHz, to the company's product range.
The 8817 amplifier is suitable for Electronic Counter Measures and counter IED applications, and is likely to be integrated with other EW equipment on vehicles or aircraft such as helicopters and UAVs.
The 8817 is a GaN HEMT amplifier, built to an advanced design which packs more power and performance into a small unit with a small footprint and provides a greater power density. The amplifier weighs just 570g and measuring 188 x 91.5 x 21.3 mm.
However, the amplifier's compact size has not compromised its performance – the device provides a minimum saturated output power (P-Sat) of 50 watts over the full frequency range. The device's gain is typically 48 db while the harmonics are low, at -16 dBc
While the 8817 is the latest in Amplifier Technology's range of commercial, off-the-shelf amplifiers, the company also provides bespoke amplifier design services and builds amplifiers tailored to OEM needs and customers' applications.
