High reliability adjustable shunt regulator operates across wide junction temperature range
Linear Technology Corporation has unveiled a new high reliability MP-grade version of the LT1431, a three-terminal adjustable shunt voltage regulator that operates across a -55 to 150°C junction temperature range. The device has a 100 mA sink capability, 0.4% initial reference voltage accuracy and a ±1.4% maximum voltage drift over temperature.
On-chip divider resistors allow the LT1431 to be configured as a 5 V shunt regulator. By adding two external resistors, the output voltage may be set to any value between 2.5 V and 36 V. The nominal internal current limit of 100 mA may be decreased by including one external resistor.
Active output circuitry provides a sharp turn-on characteristic, making this device a replacement for Zener diodes in many applications such as onboard regulation, adjustable power supplies, and isolated switching power supplies.
Availability and Pricing
The LT1431 MP-grade is available in an SO-8 plastic package and the 1000-piece price starts at $6.49 each.
