Industrial supplies focuses on battery-backed applications
July 05, 2012 | Paul Buckley | 222904834
XP Power has released the BCS series of industrial supplies which is aimed at a broad range of applications that use battery backup to maintain equipment operation during a mains failure.
The series offers 75 Watt, 100 Watt or 155 Watt versions and are available with either 13.8 VDC or 27.6 VDC for + 12 VDC or + 24 VDC nominal outputs. The units provide a constant voltage source to power the load. A separate constant voltage / constant current output charges the standby battery. An optional third + 5 VDC / 3 A regulated output is available across the range to supply logic, fans or additional control functions.
In the event of a power loss on the AC input, the battery charging output switches to an input from the battery source providing a power source to the load. Protection features of the BCS series include battery overload, reverse polarity, output overvoltage, and output short circuit that prevents damage to the load, the external batteries and the power supply itself. Control signals provide low battery voltage disconnect, battery low warning and AC OK.
The BCS75 (75 W), BCS100 (100 W) and BCS155 (155 W) models are enclosed metal cased units and can deliver the full load from - 20 degrees C to + 50 degrees C without derating or +70 degrees C with derating. The 75 W and 100 W ranges are also available in an optional open-frame format.
Accommodating the full 90 - 264 VAC universal input range, the BCS series is suitable for worldwide use and carries EN/UL60950 approval for IT and industrial equipment.
Availability
The BCS is available from Farnell, element14, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power and comes with a three year warranty.
