Modular power supply attains full medical safety approvals
April 12, 2012 | Paul Buckley | 222904432
TDK Corporation's TDK-Lambda Vega modular power supply is now approved to IEC/EN 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No 60601-1-08 3rd Edition medical safety standards.
The power supply model is in addition to the current approval to the 2nd Edition, ensuring full safety approval for medical equipment is maintained during the transition period from 2nd to 3rd Editions. Typical applications for the Vega range include medical, industrial control, computing, automation, security, network servers and routers, broadcast, communications, lifesciences/laboratory, instrumentation and ATE.
Available in 450, 650 and 900 W power ratings, the Vega has no minimum load requirement and accommodates up to 11 fixed or adjustable outputs, giving designers a choice of output voltages up to 62 V and output current up to 114 A. The inherent versatility of Vega lies in its high degree of configurability. Output module functions include inhibit, module good, remote sense and parallel. Typical efficiency is 75% at full load and the Vega power supply comes complete with short circuit and over voltage protection.
In addition to 60601-1 3 rd Edition, all models in the TDK-Lambda Vega range are approved to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 for general purpose applications and IEC/EN 61010-1 for laboratory and process control applications, as well as meet Class B conducted and radiated EMC EN55011. The Vega also carries the CE mark, according to the LV Directive, and comes with a three year warranty.
