New speed controllable AC fan helps to achieve 30 percent energy savings
July 03, 2012 | Paul Buckley | 222904823
Aerco is making the prize-winning ADDA OSmart AC fan now available in the UK which the company claims is the first AC equipment fan that can vary its speed with changes in ambient temperature.
The variable speed capability offers the flexibility of modern DC fans with the practicality and convenience of an AC power supply.
Winner of the ‘Best Choice’ award at the Taipei Computer Association in May 2012, the OSmart AC fan can save as much as 30% energy when used in servers, telecommunication racks, UPS systems, refrigeration plants and industrial machinery.
The sensing thermistor of the OSmart fan can either be mounted on the fan hub or on a lead allowing it to be placed in a critical area of the rack or cabinet. Controlling fan speed to adjust for optimum operating temperatures will not only save energy but will prevent over-cooling of expensive and critical components.
The axial fans are built in the 120 x 120 x 38 mm frame size, are fitted with precision ball bearings and available for 115 V 60 Hz or 230 V 50 Hz supply voltage. The devices are available in a number of speed ranges with a maximum airflow capability of 45l/s (96 CFM).
