Diodes has launched the industry's first 1800W automotive-compliant transient voltage suppressor (TVS).

The D28V0H1U2P5Q is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from transients generated by inductive switching and targets a wide range of automotive applications, including pumps, HVAC (heating, ventilation & air-conditioning), infotainment, navigation, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Packaged in the thermally efficient PowerDI5 package, the device features a reverse stand-off voltage of 28V and low reverse leakage while being able to dissipate up to 1800W of power per 10/1000s transient, which is 20% higher than comparable solutions.

The D28V0H1U2P5Q can handle peak pulse currents up to 40A, 25% higher than similar surface mount and is tested to guarantee compliance with  the automotive load dump standard ISO7637-2 (pulses 1, 2a, 2b, 3) and the transient surge requirements of IEC 61000-4-5. The device is also compliant with the EMC requirements of IEC 61000-4-4 and the electro static discharge requirements (ESD) of IEC 61000-4-2.

The PCB area is 40% smaller than that of a comparable TVS packaged in the industry-standard SMT package and it has a profile above the board that is 50% lower than other parts.

The D28V0H1U2P5Q is qualified to AEC-Q101 and supported by a production-part approval document. It is priced at $0.50 in quantities of 3,000 pieces.
